Queensland
Is a state of Australia that occupies the north-eastern section of the mainland continent. The state is Australia's second largest by area, following Western Australia, and the country's third most populous after New South Wales and Victoria.
Queensland's capital is Brisbane. Brisbane's metropolitan area has a population estimated at 2 million by the Australian Bureau of Statistics, making it the third most populous city in Australia.

New South Wales
Australia's most populous state, is located in the south-east of the country and encompasses the whole of the Australian Capital Territory.
Sydney is the largest and most populous city in Australia and the state capital of New South Wales. With an approximate population of 4.5 million in the Sydney metropolitan area the city is the largest municipality in Oceania. Inhabitants of Sydney are called Sydneysiders, comprising of a cosmopolitan and international population of people from many places around the world.

Victoria
Is the second most populous state in Australia. Geographically the smallest mainland state. Victoria is the most densely populated state, and has a highly centralised population, with over 70% of Victorians living in Melbourne, the state capital and largest city. Approximately 30,000 Indigenous Australians are estimated to have lived in the area, before European settlement in Victoria began in the 1830s.

South Australia
It covers some of the most arid parts of the continent; it is the fourth largest of Australia's six states and two territories.
With over 1.6 million people, the state comprises less than 8% of the Australian population and ranks fifth in population among the states and territories. The majority of its people reside in the state capital, Adelaide.

Western Australia
Occupying the entire western third of the Australian continent. Australia's largest state and the second largest subnational entity in the world, it has 2.2 million inhabitants (10% of the national total), 85% of whom live in the south-west corner of the state.
The state's capital city is Perth. The people of Western Australia are colloquially referred to as sandgropers, the common name of an insect found on sand dunes around Perth.

Northern Territory
The Northern Territory is a federal territory of Australia, occupying much of the centre of the mainland continent, as well as the central northern regions. The capital city is Darwin. The population is not concentrated in coastal regions but rather along the Stuart Highway. The other major settlements are Katherine, Alice Springs, Tennant Creek and Nhulunbuy in the territory's north-east.
Residents of the Northern Territory are often known simply as 'Territorians'.

Tasmania
Is an Australian island and state. The state includes the island of Tasmania – the 26th largest island in the world – and the surrounding islands.Tasmania is promoted as the natural state and the "island of inspiration" owing to its large and relatively unspoiled natural environment. Almost 37% of Tasmania lies in reserves, national parks and World Heritage Sites. The island is 364 kilometres (226 mi) long from northernmost to southernmost points, and 306 kilometres (190 mi) from west to east. The state capital and largest city is Hobart.

Australian Capital Territory – Canberra
Is the capital territory of the Commonwealth of Australia and its smallest self-governing internal territory. It is enclaved within New South Wales, and regularly referred to as Australia's 'Bush Capital'.
The floral emblem of the ACT is the Royal Bluebell and the faunal emblem is the Gang-gang Cockatoo.
